SM Mall of Asia (Philippines)
Paper bags during Wednesdays, annual events for earth hour's advocacy, expensive urinals to limit and save water and many more.
Yes, SM Malls cares for the environment and they cut it, i mean... got it all for you.
But how about a tree saving program?, Or an eco-sanctuary in their lawns? I could only see little landscapes from wide lands that used to be a biological watershed long before they developed it commercially. Parking lots that costumers can't merely fill half of the free spaces during normal days.
Do these non-living parking spaces live like the trees they had cut down? Imagine LIVING ORGANISMS with LIFE like us, be massacred for the sake of parking spaces? Imagine the animals living in those habitats. Imagine the Oxygen those trees are producing for us to BREATHE.

SM Baguio (Project Site)
In April 13last Friday, SM officially stated in the public not to harm 182 Pine Trees in Baguio, rather they will just transfer it as decorations for their landscapes. By transferring, they will use the method of Earth-Balling. It is a method of uprooting the roots by cutting its extends and packing it tightly with soil inside. This is not a good solution because conifers (Pine Trees) has sensitive roots unlike tropical trees. The soil which they grown had firmly adopted its living because of its moist and cold tempearture. Transferring them to another soil will cause only a number of them to survive.
EARTH BALLING? How can we see honesty, if SM Baguio had GREAT WALLS around the site? How did DENR passed this project? How did you planned it Henry Sy? Or how about thousands of trees living before SM Malls were constructed all over the country? Where were those trees nowadays?, Did they used Earth Balling to transfer them? And take note, those trees are more huge and older than those pine trees at Baguio.

SM Lanang Premiere (Davao City)
I am a 21yr old Dabawenyo and witnessed the land before the construction of SM Lanang Premiere in our city. It was a forest and a habitat for biodiversity. I saw trees, Acacias living in that vast area. SM Gensan also had these trees before the construction started but then it was just like a puff, instead of trees and birds, i saw cranes and bulldozers.
What did they do to those trees? I think it’s preety obvious.
I wont let another pile of trees fall because of MONEY. Pine Trees in Baguio are decreasing because of the economical growth, and I hope SM Baguio Management will produce a good eco-friendly plan rather than extensions or to STOP it. I think Baguio is small tour-spot city and they are contended with the old mall.
I will fight for these trees even I am away. You are not the ones who planted these pine trees,
So,
Hands OFF SM!!!
So,
